What is the difference between the HSV-1, HSV-2 and combined tests?
HSV-1 and HSV-2 are two types of the herpes simplex virus. The HSV-1 test screens for HSV-1 antibodies, the HSV-2 test screens for HSV-2 antibodies, and the combined test screens for both in a single kit — which is why most people choose it.
What is the window period?
After exposure, your body needs time to produce detectable antibodies. Testing too soon can give a non-reactive (negative) result even if infection is present. If you test early, consider repeating the test at a later date.
How accurate are the tests?
No screening test is 100% accurate. We publish the manufacturer's stated performance figures against each kit's official instructions for use, and we never claim perfect accuracy. A reactive result should always be confirmed with a healthcare professional.
How discreet is the packaging?

What should I do if my result is reactive?
A reactive result means antibodies may have been detected, but it is not a diagnosis. Please contact a clinician or a sexual health service, who can arrange confirmatory testing and give you advice.
