Follow these instructions carefully to get the most reliable result. This page is a plain-language reference — the printed instructions for use (IFU) supplied inside your kit always take priority.
If anything on this page differs from the leaflet inside your kit, follow the leaflet. Exact timings, drop counts and steps vary by kit and are confirmed in that document.
PreparationBefore you start
- Check the expiry date and that the foil pouch is undamaged. Do not use a damaged or expired kit.
- Let the kit reach room temperature if it has been stored somewhere cool.
- Wash your hands in warm water and dry them thoroughly.
- Lay all components on a clean, flat, well-lit surface and have a timer ready.
The testTaking the test
Clean the fingertip
Use the alcohol wipe on the side of a fingertip and let it dry.
Collect the sample
Use the lancet as instructed, then draw blood into the pipette up to the marked level.
Apply the sample
Add the sample to the sample well on the cassette.
Add buffer
Add the stated number of buffer drops to the well. Drop count per IFU
Time it
Start your timer and wait the full stated time before reading. Wait time per IFU
Reading too early or too late can give a misleading result. Only read the window during the period your instructions specify.
ResultsReading your result
Non-reactive
Control line only. No antibodies detected.
Reactive
Control and test lines. Antibodies may be present.
Invalid
No control line. Repeat with a new kit.
A reactive result of any strength should be treated as reactive and confirmed by a healthcare professional. Even a faint test line counts.
If something's offTroubleshooting
No control line appears
The test is invalid, whatever the test line shows. Do not rely on it — repeat with a new kit, following each step carefully.
The lines are very faint or unclear
Make sure you read within the stated time and in good light. A faint test line still indicates a reactive result. If you are unsure, repeat with a new kit or seek professional advice.
Not enough sample collected
Do not add more sample to a test already in progress. Start again with a new kit.
AfterwardsSafe disposal & storage
- Place the used lancet in a puncture-proof container before disposal.
- Dispose of other components with household waste unless local guidance says otherwise.
- Store the kit as printed on the packaging, away from sunlight and extremes of temperature, out of reach of children. Storage range per IFU
